Hey, what was that?!

Mom's been reporting a lot of kicking and moving around in her belly lately. I've been able to feel the movement from the outside a few times, but up until this point nothing significant. Today it's feeling more pronounced and she has a better idea of what that baby's using to abuse her insides.

Fun times.

In case you're counting baby is 22 weeks along...

It (Might Be) A Girl!!!

We went for another ultrasound today and were able to find out what the sex of our baby is. The doc was 75% sure that it was a girl. Time to get the shotgun cleaned up!!!

We took a suggestion from a friend and had the doctor write the sex down on a piece of paper and put it in an envelope. Then tonight we had some of our family over and revealed the news. It was a blast.

Ultrasound picture to come soon.

Anticipation Building...

We're 22 weeks away from full term and we're getting really excited. The baby is moving inside mom's tummy and it's a constant reminder that baby is on the way! I can't feel the movement on her belly - but we've been told to wait a couple weeks on that.

We'll know the sex sometime in early December. We're looking forward to when we can stop calling the baby "it" in conversation - plus we can really start thinking about a good name.

The nausea is subsiding dramatically lately, I haven't heard the gag reflex kick in for about a week now. She's still got her moments - but they are much less frequent. Her days are still short as she is getting to bed early most nights from exhaustion.

Hear The Heartbeat

Carrie went to the doc again today and heard the heartbeat again. She decided this time she would capture it in sound and video. It sounded a lot better before being beamed up to youtube, so you gotta use a little bit of imagination - but I think you can still make it out.

Hearing The Heartbeat

Today we had another checkup for the baby and everything appears to be running smoothly. We heard a very fast little "whoosh whoosh whoosh". It really is amazing...

Unfortunately, mom is still experiencing a lot of nausea and vomiting...but we've reached the 12 week mark, so it should begin to get better over the next week or so. Otherwise both mom and dad are still very excited!

First Picture!

Wednesday we visited the doctor for a checkup and the first sonogram. It was unbelievable. We got to see the little 'blip' on the screen and could actually see the heartbeat. Amazing - at 8 1/2 weeks you can see a heartbeat!

Can't find him/her? it's the little bean shape between the crosses.

Due date: April 13, 2008!

Sick, Sick, Sick!!

Well, it's finally started...the nausea and everything else that goes along with early pregnancy symptoms. I hate that she's having such a rough time because it's making it hard for her to be excited about a new baby in our life. Everyone's been saying that when you're somewhere right around 12 weeks the nausea subsides and you feel like a new person. I can't wait until that day.

In other news, our first sonogram is September 5th and we'll get to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time (how cool is that?!). Also the Dr. will tell us the approx. due date. Can't wait!

Baby Incoming!!!

I got the news just last Sunday. I was woken from my dream about warm sandy beaches and the sound of waves crashing to my wife shaking me and saying over and over "we're pregnant!!!1". This is my first time as an expecting dad. I'll be chronicling the journey here.

This should be an interesting 9 months!
